Estate Planning

Ms. Aaronson’s trust and estate planning practice involves creation and administration of trusts, the preparation of wills, the use and administration of charities and advising on issues arising from the ownership of out of state property by her affluent clients. She prepares wills and trusts, including charitable remainder and lead trusts, life insurance trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, and generation-skipping trusts. She uses lifetime giving programs, family limited partnerships, corporate redemptions, buy-sell agreements and ESOPs to transfer assets to the next generation while minimizing the amount of transfer tax imposed. She also assists her clients with non-citizen spouses in drafting Qualified Domestic Trusts (QDOTs) to ensure that the estate tax marital deduction is fully allowed.

Ms. Aaronson also represents executors and trustees and guides them through the administration of estates and trusts. She helps them through the complex issues that inevitably arise during administration such as income tax planning for the trust or estate, advising the trustee or executor on valuation issues, the retention of appraisers, and negotiating settlements of intra-family disputes.
